February 2009

Plant Delivered to the Municipality of Gracefield

In February 2009, Dagua delivered its latest DaguaFlo plant to the Outaouais municipality of Gracefield for the upgrade of its drinking water treatment facility. With a capacity of 720 m3/day, the plant is designed to serve a population of 2,400.

Dagua’s second turnkey construction, the plant was built with engineering firm CIMA+ (www.cima.ca), which was responsible for engineering on the project. The plant is scheduled to be commissioned in April 2009.

With DaguaFlo’s effective combination of ozone and membrane filtration, the treatment of Gatineau River water, known for its high concentrations of organic matter, turbidity and colour, will now satisfy Québec’s regulatory drinking water guidelines.

May 2008

Commissioning of the Montebello Plant

The official commissioning of the DaguaFlo plant built for the Outaouais municipality of Montebello (www.ville.montebello.qc.ca) took place on May 15, 2008.

Dagua’s first turnkey project produces 2000 m3/day of drinking water, serving 1200 residents as well as the renowned Château Montebello resort and spa (www.fairmont.com/montebello).

Key factors influencing the choice of the DaguaFlo plant were ease-of-operation and telemetrics (distance control), as well its chemical-free process. The municipality also wished to eliminate environment impact, prompting it to turn to Dagua for a solution. This requirement was satisfied, as filter maintenance water from the DaguaFlo plant is returned safely to the environment.

International firm SNC-Lavalin (www.snc-lavalin.com) engineered the project to meet the municipality’s stringent requirements with regard to drinking water quality. The treated water that flows from the DaguaFlo plant now meets Québec’s regulatory standards.

Dagua is proud to have eliminated all problems related to coliforms, pH, colour, iron and manganese in the municipality’s drinking water.

April 2008

Guest Speaker at the Salon des Technologies Environnementales du Québec

Dagua was invited to give a presentation as part of the Drinking Water conference track at the Salon des technologies environnementales du Québec, on Wednesday, April 2, 2008 .

Pierre Lahaye, chemical engineer at Dagua, spoke to participants about the ease of operation of the ozone/membrane system in Radisson.

In addition to demonstrating the user-friendly operation and maintenance of the DaguaFlo-UMF plant in Radisson, Lahaye presented operational results for the year 2007 with regard to the compliance of treated and process waters flowing from the plant. A capacity crowd turned out for this presentation, and Dagua would like to thank all participants for their attendance.

June 2007

Municipality of Montebello

In the context of the upgrade of its drinking water treatment infrastructures, the Municipality of Montebello (www.ville.montebello.qc.ca) issued a Request for Proposals in May 2007 for the construction of a turnkey project, including a drinking water treatment plant and its housing.

The Municipality of Montebello, which has a population of 1,100 and provides services to one of the best known resorts in Eastern Canada, Château Montebello (www.fairmont.com/fr/montebello/Index.htm), was looking for an innovative membrane filtration solution capable of purifying its drinking water in accordance with regulatory standards in Quebec.

Dagua’s chemical-free drinking water treatment technology easily met all the expectations of the Municipality of Montebello.  Supervised by engineering firm SNC-Lavalin (www.snc-lavalin.com), the rigorous RFP process focused not only on the most economical bid, but also on the annual operating costs associated with the various bids. The winning bid therefore needed to offer the best cost combination in terms of both capital and operating costs.

On June 21, 2007, after Dagua’s solution was assessed overall as the most competitive bid received, the municipality awarded the firm a contract for the design, construction and commissioning of a plant producing 2,000 m3/day of drinking water.

Following on its success in the Quebec municipality of Radisson in 2006, Dagua will begin construction of the Montebello plant in the summer of 2007. Commissioning is scheduled for the winter of 2008.

Dagua is proud of its association with the Municipality of Montebello, which will be able to to ensure that its citizens receive an exceptional quality of drinking water, using a chemical-free technology that was developed in Quebec and supports sustainability goals

Radisson's drinking water now treated using Dagua technology

Radisson, May 25, 2006 - The town of Radisson, a community of 500 that is part of the James Bay Municipality, has inaugurated a new water treatment plant that employs leading edge technology by the Canadian firm Dagua.

This project became necessary in 2001 in order to ensure compliance with Québec's new Regulation Respecting the Quality of Drinking Water. It provides for the achievement of government standards in the treatment of surface water drawn from the Robert-Bourassa reservoir.

The Radisson project consisted in setting up and implementing an innovative and chemical-free drinking water treatment procedure using ozone and membrane filtration, certified by the Drinking Water Treatment Technologies Committee of the Government of Quebec. Partners in the project were Radisson and the Bay James Municipality, the Canadian engineering firm SNC-Lavalin and Dagua.

Claude Gagné, Director of Radisson, emphasized the project's importance to his fellow citizens. "We are very satisfied with the outcome of this priority project, which allows us to produce drinking water that complies with the new quality standards and solve the persistent problem of water discolouration, while benefiting from a technology that requires little operating time."

"SNC-Lavalin is pleased to be associated with innovative solutions that can benefit communities like Radisson, given a global context where access to quality drinking water is a growing concern," stated Éric Pinard, Engineer and Project Manager for SNC-Lavalin.
